Like many other momtogs (aka mom photographers) I really started to try to understand my DSLR better when I had my daughter, Marin. Even though I had taken photography courses in high school and college, as well as taken my camera with me on my travels, I still was relying on auto mode for the most part and had put little thought into human portraits. I realize I would never get the images I want if I didn’t step it up and learn how to use my camera. I’ve spent countless hours and quite a bit of money learning how to become a better photographer. So I decided to make it a little easier for you!

I’ve put together a guide to photographing your kids that in includes 5 easy steps to getting better pictures. From how to use your camera (if you don’t know what your aperture is, you definitely want to read this), simple posing setups that you can do in your house, and even HOW TO GET IN THE FRAME YOURSELF. Yes, you. Believe me, your kids will covet these images especially when they’re adult. And so will you. I promise.
