Six Business Tools that Help My Photo Biz

As photographers, we strive to create something that pleases our clients. There is nothing as rewarding as receiving a message from a client who is ecstatic about the gallery you’ve just sent off. But, there’s also that underlining fear off photographers have I receiving that one message where the client shared her disappointment. It’s easy to live in a state of fear that this will happen and all times – I am not impervious to this fear.

But one thing I have learned from all this mindset work, I have been doing over the years is that you will receive back the energy that you put out into the world. Think of magnets- when you stick a plus side and a negative side together and create magnetism, but as soon as you try to put two sides together at repels. This is why I believe it is so important to go into your photo sessions with your highest energy.

Here are my five tips for how to create a positive an energetics photo session that will inevitably result in beautiful images that your client will be completely stoked on.

  1. If you are someone who ruminates, don’t ruminate before a session, keep yourself busy, and do things that bring you joy. I often will listen to music that pumps me up or a podcast that makes me laugh or inspires me on my way to a session to distract myself from negative thoughts and also to bring my energy level up.

  2. Text yourself all your clients names before the session and refer to it whenever you need to during the session – just pretend you’re checking the time on your phone. The more you use your clients names throughout the session, the more they will trust you, and eventually relax, so that you can capture them in a more authentic way.

  3. Asked your clients about themselves during the session I make it my priority to make my sessions as relaxed as possible, and one way of doing so is by asking questions. I am not saying we are all narcissists, but for the most part people very much enjoy talking about themselves the more you let your client shared about themselves with you the more they will feel like you are their friend, and I have made many friends with clients this way.
