The S Word | Reflecting on 2020 | Sunshine Lady Photography

Well, it’s been a year, eh? I know I’m not alone in looking forward to a new year, but if I’m being honest, this year has actually been pretty good to me.

Yes, I’ve had moments of despair, but who hasn’t? From having zero shoots in April to being fully booked for the summer and fall, I’ve been busier than ever with my business (117 clients, many of whom booked multiple sessions- I’m equal parts ecstatic and exhausted). My kiddos are healthy and the best of friends and my husband is supportive and a loving father. Our house needs a little help, but it’s warm and safe.

I feel very grateful that 2020 took it easy on our family (2016 was a monster to us, so I guess the universe is cutting us a break), but I think about those who are less fortunate and found themselves suffering and in dire straits these past months. The only advice I can offer anyone having a rough time is that all of this will change and there are good things waiting for you in your future- you just have to hold on tight for now.

I’ve been meaning to share some family photos my talented friend (now based in Jacksonville, Florida) Sara Price took this past fall. It’s so nice to actually be in the pics with my kids once in a while so they can have memories with me when they’re adults.
