Artisan Artifact’s Ariana and IO at home
Photographing artists is my happy place. Couple that with artists at home with their babies in their super cool homes, and I’m in! Ariana, the artist behind the incredibly beautiful pottery brand Artisan Artifacts, welcomed me into her home to photograph her and baby Io. As an artist, Ariana has an established aesthetic- earthy and modern, with colorful hints of her travels and hobbies thrown into the mix. I decided to take this blog post as an opportunity to share some tips for how to elevate the style in your own home (which we can then photograph you and your fam enjoying!).
Focus on a Cohesive Color Palette: Choose a color palette that complements your personal style and use it consistently throughout your home. Consider the overall mood you want to create and select colors that work well together. You can introduce pops of accent colors to add visual interest and create focal points.
Declutter and Organize: A clutter-free space instantly feels more stylish and inviting. Take the time to declutter your home and find smart storage solutions to keep things organized (I recently discovered the value of investing in stylish storage options and it has CHANGED MY LIFE- clutter be gone). Minimize unnecessary items and only display or keep things that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Incorporate Statement Pieces: Invest in a few key statement pieces that reflect your style and become focal points in your home. This could be a unique piece of furniture, an eye-catching artwork, or a striking light fixture. These pieces can add personality and visual interest to your space.
Play with Textures and Patterns: Introduce different textures and patterns to add depth and visual appeal. Mix and match materials such as wood, metal, glass, and textiles to create contrast and variety. Don't be afraid to experiment with patterned wallpapers, rugs, throw pillows, or curtains to inject personality into your rooms.
Pay Attention to Lighting: Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the ambiance and highlighting key features of your home. Incorporate a combination of natural and artificial lighting to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
