Meet My Pregnant Friend, Megan

This past October, I flew to Nashville to meet up with my high school girlfriends to celebrate our beloved Jen in celebration of her impending marriage. Even though high school was a million years ago and we have taken various paths away from each other in life, we always find a way to have a good time anytime we’re together. One night while getting ready to go out, my roommate and longtime friend, Megan, mentioned that she felt like garbage and joked that she was probably pregnant.

Fast forward a couple months, and Megan and I were planning her maternity photos during my impending trip to Pennsylvania where I planned to host mini sessions at Longwood Gardens. But as fate would have it, coronavirus arrived and shut down the world, and so our session was out. Or was it?

I had noticed other photographers in my photog groups talking about Facetime sessions. I figured it can’t be that hard, so Megan, outside Philadelphia, and I, in Northern Colorado, met up online and did our own sesh.

First, these are super fun. Second, these are SUPER hard. Megan was a trooping, move furniture, while 8 months pregnant, all over her room and setting up her iphone in various spots and on crazy contraptions we concocted to hold it. The hardest part of all though was trying to figure out left from right- I’m fairly used to giving directions while behind a camera, but couple that with doing so for a mirror image, and things got confusing really fast.

Luckily, Megan is a trooper, and we were able to capture some super sweet images of her. As expected, the clarity of phone images is not exactly razor sharp, but I enjoy the fuzzy result. It almost looks like film! After about an hour of trying out different spots in her bedroom, Megan and I called it a day and I went right to work to see what we had come up with. The result? Beautiful images! Check them out and tell me what you think!
