Misty, a microinfluencer on IG in Denver, reached out to me this summer to document her pregnancy. We chatted about locations and she was game to meet me at one of my favorite FOCO spots, Lory State Park. Despite the fires (remember the NEVERENDING fires this year?), we arrived on a relatively clear day and jumped into action before the sun sank behind the hills.

Misty hails from the central coast of California (San Luis Obispo- a huge contender when my husband and I considered where to move two years ago) and spent close to a decade working in the LA content production/blogging/news reporting scene before moving to Denver on a whim (sounds familiar) in order to be closer to nature. As luck would have it, she met her Australian fiance, Lockie, and four years later they are welcoming a little Colorado native into their lives.

Tell us the story about when you learned you were pregnant.

My partner and I were trying to get pregnant for about 8 months. Taking a pregnancy test each month was an emotional moment. On April 1st we were supposed to be in Australia but our trip was cancelled due to the pandemic. It was a few days past when I was supposed to start my next cycle so I waited until the end of the day (knowing I would get tearful) and took a pregnancy test. I was absolutely stunned when it came back positive. I was alone in our house with my fiance away for work. I cried immediately and cherished the moment that I knew something no one else knew.

Whatā€™s the most surprising thing about being pregnant?

I've been blown away with the overwhelming support and love from family and friends.

What are you craving?

Granola and yogurt. All the time.

What did you wear for your session?

I wore a white floral lace chiffon maxi dress and brown ankle boots.

What was your favorite part of your photo session?

The stress-free environment!

What is one piece of advice you would give to a newly pregnant woman?

No opinion matters but your own. (And your OB!)

Interested in a maternity session at Lory State Park? Iā€™d love to hear from you!
