Pickin’ Pumpkins

What’s more fall festive than pumpkin picking? For my whole life, fall has been my favorite season- partly because I’m a fall baby (although as I get older, I am not as keen to get to my bday each year) and partly because I love the foliage and chill in the air. While we lived in California, fall was more like beautiful sunsets and rain (when there wasn’t a drought), but no real foliage. This year, fall has been a showstopper.

So, to get in the autumnal spirit, we decided to go pumpkin picking at The Bartels Farm, a local favorite, and actually “hunt” for our pumpkins this year. The day ended up being quite hot, so we rather quickly walked through the fields and picked up the best pumpkins we could find before returning to the shaded area with snacks and fun photo opportunities to enjoy the fall vibez. After nearly 2 years of covid-life, it was fun to enjoy something festive with our girls (Reina doesn’t remember anything pre-covid at this point, so everything is new and exciting to her). The typical momtog, I snapped some pics of our mid day adventure.

What’s your favorite fall tradition?

And after a few weeks of enjoying our pumpkin bounty, we decided to carve our pumpkins in time to celebrate Halloween. My kids, naturally, wanted to carve cats, and I helped them out. The squirrels have already decimated our pumpkins, but it’s the journey, not the destination, right?

Looking for some inspiration to get creative yourself? Here are a few things that are keeping my creative juices flowing.
