I met Amanda and Steven at Horsetooth Reservoir to capture their much anticipated and celebrated pregnancy. The couple moved to Fort Collins in March of 2019 due to relocation in the military. Amanda and Stephen LOVE to get outside and hike, as well as visit New Belgium Brewery and the Poudre River Whitewater Park, which are both walkable from their home.

The skies were dark the night of our shoot, but because it’s Colorado and the weather is CRAZY, we went ahead with our shoot and hoped for some rays of sun- which we got! Although the ground with slick with mud from the rain, Amanda and Steven were total troopers and we were able to capture some real magic. After the shoot, I asked Amanda if she’d share some of her pregnancy experience for a blog post. Keep going to read her responses.

Tell us the story about when you learned you were pregnant.

Steven was gone on a ski trip with his dad and brothers and I kept having a feeling something just wasn't normal. For THREE WEEKS, we had been telling ourselves it was probably due to stress from being in a busy season at work - but while he was gone, I got a pregnancy test. We took the test the day Steven got back from his trip and within SECONDS we saw the plus sign. To say we were shocked was an understatement but it has been by far the best shock of our lives.

What’s the most surprising thing about being pregnant?

When the moment you feel the baby kick, you forget about how exhausted and miserable you were in the first trimester. Without even meeting her yet, it makes it all worth it. As excited as I am for her to make her grand entrance, I'll miss those sweet movements.

What are you craving?

I haven't had any of those weird pickles and ice cream cravings but I have been giving myself grace when it comes to Crumbl cookies and ice cream.

What did you wear for your session?

I chose two dresses for our maternity shoot. A blue and white maxi dress from a boutique in Athens, GA (Red Dress Boutique) and another mauve midi dress from Roolee. So happy with both dresses!

What was your favorite part of your photo session?

Geez, ALL OF IT!!! Working with Kate was the best! She kept things fun and light while working her incredible magic. Then receiving the photos was another high. She captured moments that we will cherish forever.

I absolutely love the images we captured and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both Amanda and Steven. I can’t wait for our newborn session!
