This past spring, Kayleigh, another Colorado photographer, asked me to photograph her pregnancy in Colorado Springs. How could I say no? We met at a beautiful, sunny field in Larkspur, where she, her husband, and her son joined us. Together, we simply walked around the nearest path to the parking lot because I hate to make pregnant ladies have to trek too far, and enjoyed some much needed warm and golden light.

As another photographer, Kayleigh knew exactly how to prepare herself for her shoot- find a beautiful, flattering dress, accessorize, and style her hair and makeup to match her look. If you’re wondering if a wearing a pink dress for your maternity shoot is a good idea, the answer is yes.

I remember, many, many years ago, watching an episode of Oprah (most likely while drinking a glass of Chardonnay after a long day of teaching- yes, I used to be a high school English teacher. Please don’t judge me for poor grammar and mechanics because I was in it to analyze literature- and learning that coral is the best color for all women of all skin tones. I’ve found that this holds true for pink as well. Especially for how I edit! A former pink hater, I can appreciate it for the warmth it brings to skin tones.

You can always check out my Pinterest boards to get more ideas about what to wear for your sessions. I have over 50k viewers a month, so I must be pinning the right stuff! The best bet is to do whatever you need to feel relaxed and beautiful. These moments are so short in the grand scheme of things and should be celebrated, at least once!
